GameChanger, a concept for the Stats and Insights team
Worth every dollar
GameChanger families pay about 99 dollars a year, and their reviews say they feel it. The same families generate nine million games of scoring data a season. This concept returns that data as felt value, so the subscription justifies itself every week.
How I made this. I tore down GameChanger's public properties and both app stores. I set direction in low fidelity first, my gray wireframes are in the process chapter below and the full board is one click away. All teams, players, and numbers are fictional.
The evidence
Four findings, all theirs
Their homepage
The capture machine
Nine million plus games a year across a million plus teams, scored pitch by pitch by volunteer scorekeepers. The richest dataset in youth sports.
Google Play reviews
The price is felt
"Extremely pricey, very greedy." Prices rose, family plans roughly doubled, and paying subscribers report seeing ads. The bill arrives before the value does.
App Store reviews
Demand is not the problem
Reviewers push for deeper stats and scoring features faster than they arrive. Families are asking their data to do more.

Insights already shipping
Post game insights, lineup recommendations in beta, Film Room video analysis. The company is already betting on this surface.
Resented price, rich data, proven demand. That is one job description. Make the data feel worth the money.
The process
Direction before decoration
I picked this concept, I did not assume it. My teardown produced five territories, I killed four, then broke the survivor into measurable chunks and wireframed it in gray before styling a single pixel. The paper below is my actual working file.
01 · Five territories, four killed
The reader problema method, not a headline, folded into the pick
Recommendation truststrong but narrow, became chunk two
The household roll upreal and verified, held as the family chapter
Capture speedverified pain, another team's seat, interview note only
Worth every dollarprice resentment plus rich data plus proven demand, the business spine

03 · W1, the recap
Insight, leadOne sentence about the kid, no jargonreceipt line under it
Insight, teamOne sentence about the trend
Decision. Two insights max. The moment it scrolls, it is a stat page and I have lost the reader.

04 · W2, the receipt
PinnedThe sentence stays on top
The number14 vs season 9, one comparisonhistory behind a tap
Decision. The table is the last stop, never the first. Depth is earned by taps, not dumped.
became the receipt view
05 · W3, the coach card
SuggestionOne lineup call for Tuesday
ReasonsTwo plain stat lines, always visible
Decision. A volunteer coach must be able to defend it to a parent, so reasons come before buttons.
became chunk two
06 · What the gray version taught
W1 sketched three insight slots. Read cold, three already felt like a stat page. The build enforces two, never more.
The receipt was one comparison bar. It felt thin as proof, so the build added the last three games beneath it, and the rule held, depth earned by taps.
The coach buttons were sketched above the reasons. Flipped in review. Trust reads top to bottom, so the reasoning comes first and the buttons wait their turn.
One engine turns captured numbers into plain sentences for whoever is reading, and every sentence keeps its raw number one tap behind it. Simple on the surface, honest underneath, valuable weekly.

The rule the whole system obeys. Nothing is shown that the data cannot back, and the number is never more than one tap from the sentence it produced.
Working model
One number, three sentences
The engine at the core. The same captured stat, written for whoever is reading. Pick a stat, then pick a reader.
For the family
Maya made the pitcher work harder than anyone on the field tonight.

Two insights, never more. The moment a recap scrolls, it becomes a stat page and the reader is gone. Ruthless selection is the feature.
The receipt is one tap behind. The sentence earns trust because the number is always right there, a comparison first, the full history under it. Depth is earned by taps, not dumped.
The share is the growth loop. A sentence a grandparent understands is a sentence a parent forwards. Every share is a free advertisement written by the data.

Chunk two
Decisions with receipts
The coach surface. One suggestion before practice, reasons always visible, because a volunteer coach will only use what they can defend to a parent. This maps to their Lineup Recommendations beta.
GameChangerLineup helper · practice Tuesday
SuggestionBat Maya second on Tuesday.Based on the last five games
Reason oneSees 9 plus pitches per game, team high
Reason twoOn base in 7 straight games
In Tuesday's plan. You can change it any time.
Reasons before buttons. The reasoning is the interface. A suggestion that cannot show its work does not ship, that is the trust bar for every recommendation this team makes.
Declining is a first class action. Not this week is data too, it teaches the engine and it tells the coach the tool respects their judgment.
Measure, suggestion acceptance
Held for the next sprint
Two chapters, scoped and waiting
The growth ledger
The player's own season arc, pride with proof. Held until the tone question, encouragement first or evidence first, gets a real answer from kids and parents.
Measure, profile return visits
The household digest
One weekly view across kids and seasons, built from a verified complaint about multi kid clutter. The family plan's reason to exist.
Measure, family plan retention
The close
From resented price to obvious value
The scorekeeping engine already works, the reviews prove it. What families are missing is the return on their own data. Two insights a week, receipts always one tap behind, and a coach who can defend every suggestion. That is what worth every dollar looks like.
